In the Shadowlands Pre-Patch, Blizzard provided a baseline 11% Bonus Threat to all Tanks.In Patch 8.3, the Essence slot change was removed and replaced with a flat 50% increase for wearing the Heart of Azeroth.In Patch 8.2, each Essence slot that was unlocked gave 9% bonus threat, for a total of 27% increase.Throughout Battle for Azeroth, Threat was hotfixed multiple times in order for Tanks to be able to hold threat: Tank Threat has been a popular discussion topic during the Shadowlands Pre-Patch and Shadowlands Beta, with many tanks commenting that they were having issues holding threat off of DPS.
Tanks who have the Heart of Azeroth equipped are also still benefitting from a large bonus threat multiplier. The Heart of Azeroth has a large amount of secondary stats for its Item Level, making it useful for many players who are still gearing up in Shadowlands.
